A Wapuu Design Process
Every WordCamp Requires a Wapuu
But why stop with just one? Like our favorite potato chip, you can’t have just one Wapuu. Wapuus are delightful Japanese monsters that are taking the WordCamp World by airstorm.
Normally, there is only one Wapuu per city. My giddiness ran amuck. Because I initially mixed my metaphors (rot-roh!), Seattle got 2 Wapuus. Based on the Seattle aviation history, the Wapuus were crafted like paperdolls with components that resonated with pilots.
Due to my love of barnstormers (or is it leather?) my first inclination was to dress the monster in a leather bomber jacket, leather cap & goggles, jodhpurs, boots, and a white silk fringe scarf. When I affixed the wings from the logo to his back, it was then I realized that the wings didn’t match. Therein lies the problem.
Or is it a solution?
Barnstorming Wapuu
The Barnstorming Wapuu is your maverick pilot. He’s a showboat and grandstander when it comes to aerial acrobatics. Barnstorming Wapuu is the most interesting Wapuu in the World. He’s a man’s man and a lady’s man. According to his straight-laced Commercial Pilot Wapuu brother, he’s irreverent and a bit reckless.
Accompanying the Barnstorming Wapuu is a single sticker sheet gratuitously filled with adorable Wapuu components. A barnstorming Wapuu needs all the trappings of a showboater. This would include goggles, mailbag, telescope, camera, leather skull cap, and a parachute should any of his aerial tricks go horribly wrong. But we know they won’t because despite what his Commerical Pilot brother rumors, safety third is Barnstormer’s rule.
Commerical Pilot Wapuu
The Commercial Pilot Wapuu is your by-the-book pilot. He follows the rules to keep his passengers safe. Children look up to Captain Wapuu and he’s the kind of pilot that you bring home to mom. According to his grandstanding Barnstorming Wapuu brother, he’s a company man. Not that there’s anything wrong with that.
Cross check this proposed single sticker sheet accompanying the Commercial Pilot Wapuu. It’s replete with aviation trappings. A punctual performer, this aviator Wapuu winds his watch and dons his headphones to keep him tethered to ground control. Gold strikes a chord across the brim of his hat and his epaulets to showcase his experience. Polarize your glasses and pack your bag for crew duty because this Commercial Aviator is airborne!
Winning!
The winning combination for 2017 Seattle WordCamp is Barnstorming Wapuu and Commercial Pilot Wapuu!
Our sticker sheet limit is one (graciously provided by StickerGiant) so we included both Wapuus, the WordCamp logo, and other elements. If you want a sticker sheet for your very own, you’ve got to attend the 2017 Seattle WordCamp this weekend!
